Birdpark Parque das Aves, Iguazu

Near the entrance to the Iguazu National Park is a great bird park, which you should not miss while you are there. The entrance is opposite the heliport, just before you turn off the main road to the park. From the entrance of the National Park, it's maybe 300 meters.
The bird park has a few other animals besides the birds, like crocodiles or butterflies, but the focus is definitely on the local birdlife.
Many birds are in large aviaries, so you can only see them through a fence. But there are also a number of large "open-air" enclosures, which are of course also blocked with nets and the like. There you can watch the birds undisturbed. Also the main attraction for many visitors, the toucans are located there.
My favorites, however, were the large macaws. First I was a bit disappointed because you could hear the parrots across the park but they were in those inaccessible cages. But at the end of this section, there is a really big walk-in aviary.
I was also lucky that it was feeding time and the macaws were flying around very excited. It's an interesting feeling when such an animal with a wingspan of more than 1 meter rushes a few centimeters above your head.
As said: The visit is actually a must. I liked the park even better than the waterfalls.
