Classic Car Days Hattersheim
After being canceled the last couple of years due to Corona, the Classic Car Days (“Klassikertage” in German) [↗], were back again this year.
Always in the spring, thousands of classic car fans meet in the Hattersheim city center. Since neither entrance nor nomination fees are charged, the influx is enormous. Around the market square and on the meadows around the pond in the city park, the cars are standing side by side.
Hattersheim is a community between Frankfurt and Wiesbaden, close to the airport. Therefore it is easy to reach by all means of transportation.
I was there on Saturday around 9:30 am. As expected, the city center is closed, so I parked on the other side of the railroad line.
At this time, there are already some vehicles on site, but most are just now slowly rolling in. Also, the number of spectators is still limited. Most of them are owners or friends of the exhibitors.
For photographing this is, of course, advantageous, because not so many people run into the picture, but even so the cars are standing relatively close to each other, so isolated photographs of individual vehicles are difficult. Not to mention the avoidance of reflections.
Traditional classic cars, as you know them from car museums, are only occasionally to be found. The focus is rather on youngtimers. Interest groups or clubs of individual brands or vehicle types - from Ford Capri to Triumph - are often represented, and some of them have reserved specific areas in advance. Nevertheless, there are plenty of worthwhile motifs to be found.
