Japan at Cherry Blossom 2023

Japan 2023 - title

A trip to Japan was on our agenda for a couple of years. We even decided to go in spring and with an organized tour to avoid the hassle of finding hotels and trains during high season. Then Covid came and Japan closed its borders to any traffic. Only last year they started allowing tourists to return.

But this is not the only thing that changed: Freya is reluctant to take long-distance flights - not flights in general, but anything longer than 4 to 6 hours. I was already in the US on my own last year USA and since I travel frequently for business, she's used to being alone for a while This is even more true, as she wants to go on a garden tour through the UK this summer, something I'm not interested in at all.

Last summer, when it became apparent that Japan was going to reopen its borders, I checked what Djoser has to offer. Djoser is a tour operator that is focusing on the organizational aspects of the trip and gives you a lot of freedom on what to do after you arrived at the hotel. We have traveled with Djoser a few times over the years and when we want to go with a group they are usually our first choice.

Luckily, they still have the tour on offer that we would have booked before Corona. It's a 20+2 day trip through Japan at the beginning of the cherry blossom season.
