China changed significantly during the last two decades and architecture is the area you can recognize easily. Aside from old (or rebuilt) temples, you can find boring, purely functional houses or world-class architecture.
This for example is the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing. Designed by Paul Andreu it is right next to some monumental communistic buildings and not far away from the Forbidden City.
