Nan Lian Garden, Hong Kong

Nan Lian Garden is a public park near Diamond Hill MRT station and an oasis of peace and tranquillity in the middle of skyscrapers.
It opens at 7 am and closes only by 9 pm. During daytime and especially on a weekend it can be pretty crowded, so try to be there early - or even better: Go there late. Like in many Asian places the lighting adds additional atmosphere.

The only problem with that suggestion is their no-tripod rule. In the evening the park has next to no visitors, so the rule is really good for nothing, but they are very strict with it. They even have little cards they show you to make sure that you understand. Luckily there were some barriers at decent places that I used as an alternative. Not perfect, but quite ok.

By the way: If you are there during the daytime a visit to the neighboring Chi Lin Nunnery is a good idea, too.
